The Cool Tech Club meeting on 27 March 2008 was attended by an exceptionally large number of members and visitors who came to hear from six Israeli entrepreneurs described their companies and their clever products. The meeting room seemed to be filled to near capacity as member interest in the presenters and their topics was electric.

Here is a quick overview of the presentations (with some information from their websites).

ScaleMP, Inc. (http://www.scalemp.com/) - Shai Fultheim,
Founder and President (from his linked in bio.)

ScaleMP is the leader in virtualization for high-end computing, providing higher performance and lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). The innovative Versatile SMPTM (vSMP) architecture aggregates multiple x86 systems into a single virtual x86 system, delivering an industry-standard, high-end symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) computer. Using software to replace custom hardware and components, ScaleMP offers a new, revolutionary computing paradigm. vSMP Foundation is a software-only solution that eliminates the need for extensive R&D or proprietary hardware components in developing high-end x86 systems, and reduces overall end-user system cost and operational expenditures. vSMP Foundation aggregates up to 16 x86 systems to create a single system with 4 to 32 processors (128 cores) and up to 1 TB of shared memory.

One notable example of using the ScaleMP product was to enable the large memory requirements for engineering simulations. See more at http://www.scalemp.com/

Of course any massively parallel system can benefit from better parallel software development tools. Note that UC Berkeley and the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign are being funded to pioneer new software architectures and development tools for the coming wave of massively multicore processors.

"Dapper's mission is to allow you to use any web based content in any way you can imagine. And by use, we mean going beyond just reading or viewing a webpage. You may want to create an RSS feed or a Google Gadget for a site, take a site's content and put it on a map, receive an email alert when your site's Alexa's ranking goes below 5000, or create a mashup of your favorite band's tour dates and a camping locations reservation website to organize your musical camping vacation. Whatever you want to do, however you want to mold the web, Dapper can help you do it."

NuConomy (http://www.nuconomy.com/) Shahar Nechmad

Nuconomy moves web metrics well beyond the page-view model. Measures the visitor's engagement, attention and contributions metrics to allow creation of a better customer experience. It measures the "semantic use" of the web site both at the site level and the individual user level.

Website owner metrics are adjustable using the "Ranking Formula Wizard" that has a friendly user interface with analog slider controls for weighting different parameters.

Nuconomy is fully compliant with the privacy laws of the EU and the US.

There are limitations however, AJAX sites for example are not trackable although Flash, Silverlight and AJAX are supported. (?)

All in all, it was an inspiring meeting to see how ideas were being transformed into services!!!!
